Youth Outlook - where every donation makes a big difference. Donors to Youth Outlook make a real difference in their community, because their donation goes a long way. Gifts of every size make a larger than average impact on a small, grassroots organization such as Youth Outlook.
Your donation will directly help LGBTQ youth who often have few places to turn. Our youth report harrowing experiences at school, including being kicked down the stairs, being beaten up and having their property destroyed. Adolescence is tough enough. Being gay shouldn’t make it tougher—but it usually does.
Gay students are more likely to contemplate and commit suicide, are at an increased risk of harassment, and drop out of school to avoid abuse at much higher rates than their heterosexual peers. They often turn to self-medication through drugs or alcohol, and can end up in unhealthy relationships because they have nobody to talk to about what a healthy gay relationship is all about.
In the face of this, Youth Outlook offers physical and emotional space for LGBTQ youth, giving them a place that they feel respected and safe, where they can feel confident in their identity. Our programs promote safe and healthy choices and provide youth with a positive social setting as an alternative to drug and alcohol use.
Youth Outlook also works for social change by offering community outreach programs to local schools, health care workers, and social service providers. By educating the community on the risks that face LGBTQ students, and how to positively respond to their needs, Youth Outlook is working towards lasting change.

| The Youth Outlook Endowment Fund! |
Starting the beginning of 2011, we will be kicking off our first Endowment Fund drive. This will ensure the future of Youth Outlook for years to come. We are very excited about this challenge and will bring you more information in the months to come. There are many issues that we have targeted. One of them is the homelessness among LGBT youth. For more information on why our goals are so important, here is a report of the Federal Response to this issue.
