When we talk to school faculty and administrators, or health professionals, or social service workers, they often tell us that they don’t know much about LGBTQ youth—what particular risks they face, or what resources are available for them in the community.

Youth Outlook has provided educational workshops to over hundreds of adults since our founding, offering advice for how to best support LGBTQ youth and how to make positive changes in their schools or agencies. The goal of this work is to directly impact the atmosphere in area schools and community organizations so that they are more inclusive and tolerant.

Organizations are also welcome to join the Naperville Community Networking Group for LGBTQ Youth Concerns, cofounded by Youth Outlook with NCO Youth and Family Services. The group consists of 20 agencies including hospitals, churches, school districts, PFLAG groups, and social service agencies. This is the only group for professionals concerned with LGBTQ youth issues in our region of the state. For more information, please contact Nancy Mullen at the email address below.

If you have a specific concern facing an LGBTQ youth in your life, please explore the resource links on this page.
