Community Partners
When we talk to school faculty and administrators, or health professionals, or social service workers, they often tell us that they don’t know much about LGBTQ youth—what particular risks they face, or what resources are available for them in the community. They want to help, but they're sometimes not sure how.
Youth Outlook has provided educational workshops to health, mental health and educational professionals since our founding, exploring the developmental needs of LGBT youth, how to best support them and make positive changes in schools and/or agencies. The goal of this work is to directly impact the atmosphere in area schools and community organizations so that they are safer and more inclusive.
If you would like to schedule a Youth Outlook presentation at your school or agency, please contact Nancy Mullen, Executive Director, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . We are happy to customize a workshop to meet your needs.
Organizations are also welcome to join the Naperville Community Networking for Professionals Supporting LGBT Youth, cofounded by Youth Outlook with NCO Youth and Family Services, the YWCA, Naperville Police Department and Breaking Free. The group consists of 20 agencies including hospitals, churches, school districts, PFLAG groups, and social service agencies. This is the only group for professionals concerned with LGBTQ youth issues in our region of the state. For more information, please contact Nancy Mullen at the above email address.
If you have a specific concern facing an LGBTQ youth in your life, please explore the resource links on this page.
